He’s also well-known for his collaboration with friend and former Beatle George Harrison.

Despite being one of the most influential musicians of his generation and an integral part of several prominent bands, Clapton’s best work has arguably been formed as a solo artist. His first solo hit, “Layla,” turned out to be just the beginning of an incredible solo career that has survived the test of time. Clapton’s “Tears in Heaven” is one of the most emotional and heart-breaking songs ever recorded.

Over the years, Clapton has continued to churn out hits while also showing the versatility and musical ability to collaborate with artists of various genres.
