The venue first opened in 1972 but was renamed in 1988 after the passing of LSU basketball legend Pete Maravich. It serves as the primary home for LSU men’s and women’s basketball, wrestling, volleyball, and gymnastics. On multiple occasions, it has been used as a host site for the NCAA basketball tournament and the SEC Tournament in multiple sports. The Pete Maravich Assembly Center has also been used to host dozens of concerts. For basketball games, the Pete Maravich Assembly Center has a capacity of over 13,000 fans, while it can accommodate over 14,000 people for concerts.
